Line 1:
Sugar Wikitrope
This is simply what you think is the (not some of the, the) best example of any trope (an objective trope, not subjective, since this already is subjective). The "Crowning Example" if you will.
Line 10:
Oh, and each troper gets one example per trope, no more. Also, don't go "no, this is," or phrases like that. This is about our own personal favorites.

** Zoo Tycoon. If you like animals.

** The upcoming game Bullet Storm seems like it may be this,
** Prototype is this trope, to the point that (almost) all else seems like a cute puppy simulator. Just try to avoid collateral damage for one mission, I dare you.
** Dwarf Fortress, for science!
* Viewers Are Geniuses
** Primer. That is all.
** Complete World Knowledge
** Dennis Miller's "rants" on his HBO talk show. Didn't quite work out as well for him when he was in the Monday Night Football announcer's booth, though.
** The Silent Partner, which didn't do well in theaters because it turned out the viewers weren't.
** H.P. Lovecraft. -Ziggy Zag
** Irregular Webcomic. Including the occasional explanations.
** Neon Genesis Evangelion
** The Wire
** Ghost in the Shell (especially the series)
** As much as this editor considered agreeing with Stand-Alone Complex, in the end he must reluctantly give the championship belt to Soldier of the Mist by Gene Wolfe. --
** Dresden Codak
** Any movie by Mamoru Oshii.
* Vile Villain Saccharine Show
** Kirby
** [[My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic|Discord
* Villain Decay
** The Rabbids from Rayman Raving Rabbids used to be more intimidating in previews. Now they're total incompetent jokes. They're much more hilarious that way.
** Hannibal, why?
** Irina Derevko.
** Bowser. But in this case, Tropes Are Not Bad
** Team Rocket
** Freiza from Dragonball Z. He had the longest fight in the entire series with Goku. He comes back to life in the 12th movie and is killed by Gohan in one hit. How can it POSSIBLY BE WORSE THAN THAT?
** Raijuta Isurugi of Rurouni Kenshin
* Villainous Breakdown
** Azula.
*** Seconded.
*** Thirded.

** The Scorpio Killer.
** Apollo Justice's Kristoph Gavin. For an idea of this, he gets so mad that as he raises his fist to bang on the witness stand in frustration, the dishes that had previously fallen on the ground behind him rise up into the air and fall down as he slams his fist on the witness stand. Please note: this man has no magic powers.
*** Same game series, different perp: Damon Gant. How many villains do you know that have a breakdown speech where they stand there laughing and clapping maniacally for an entire minute?
*** Same series (notice a trend?), different villain: Manfred von Karma. After he spends hours grinning smugly at you, the guy snaps like a twig on slow-motion and bangs his head against the wall after screaming at the top of his lungs.
*** Really, pretty much any villain in this series. Redd White with his strange headdesking thing, Dahlia Hawthorne in 3-1 AND 3-5. The Tiger's seizure-inducing breakdown, and Daryan Cresend and his hair. Going everywhere.
*** Gotta give it to Matt Engarde clawing his face out, although all of the breakdowns in the series are great. Considering it's kind of a once an episode type thing, the whole SERIES deserves to be the Most Triumphant Example, although this troper is tempted by Light Yagami and Marlo Stanfield.
** Red Dragon
** [[Death Note|Light Yagami
** Marlo Stanfield: MY NAME IS MY NAME!
** Dukat in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine to the point of EvaLilith
** Soujirou Seta. His sudden change from Dissonant Serenity to this is damn scary, and simply masterful
*** Seconded.
** World, a Reality Warper who controls all aspects of the world inside his toybox. When he gets angry, the world literally begins to implode upon itself.
** The Joker, if only because the DCAU saved it's very best Villainous Breakdown for last

* Villain Override

** Kratos. Non-stop. The games never try to hide from you the fact that the guy is a Complete Monster, and after the events of the first game you can pretty much cross off the Hero in Anti-Hero in regards to him.
** [[
** The Nazis from Das Boot. -Ziggy Zag
*** Disagree. Aside from one guy, they mostly seemed politically apathetic sailors just doing their jobs, making them [[Punch Clock Villain
*** Punch Clock Villains are still villains, aren't they? Hence the name. It's the most triumphant example because no other story I know of can so consistently make you root for them and feel for them before slapping yourself once more and reminding yourself of who they are. That ending alone seals the deal. -Ziggy Zag

** Rotti Largo gets a lot of songs, Magnificent Bastard that he is, but the prize has to go to "I'll keep those vultures guessing!" and "Things You See in a Graveyard".
** "In the Dark of the Night" by Rasputin
Line 140:
** Doctor Steel. Many, since he's a musical supervillain. But "Dr. Steel" is probably the crowner. "I have become the man with a plan / With an army of toys and a mechanical band / Ruling the world making everything real / I’m Dr. Steel, Dr. Steel!"
** The Queen of the Night's aria "Der Hoelle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen," from Mozart's The Magic Flute.
** The Hounds.
*** "There is a hell that has been building from the moment we first met." indeed. So very seconded.
** [[Aladdin (Disney film)|"Prince Ali (Reprise)", by Jafar
** [[The Nightmare Before Christmas|"Whoa-oh
* Villain Sue
** More like Villain Shu, am I right?
** Captain Broken himself, Sousuke Aizen.
*** So much that him losing at all will be terribly OOC.
** Lord Starkiller basically kills off a bunch of major characters and warps the continuity in Ultimate Sith Edition. Good thing he's not canon (outside of a Bonus Boss cameo).
** Hao Asakura.
** Villain Sue.

Line 167:
* Viral Marketing
** The Joker Blogs, an amateur-produced YouTube television series, has established "Mr. J" as the sole rightful heir to Heath Ledger among diehard Batman fans, nevermind random viewers...and all of it right under Hollywood's nose.
** The Blair Witch Project. Too bad the movie sucked.
* Vitriolic Best Buds
** Werner Herzog and Klaus Kinski.
** Fai and Kurogane.
* Viva Las Vegas
** The Hangover
** Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
* Vocal Minority
** Americans. Most of them are not loud, boorish, fat, lazy, uncultured, stupid, etc. Shocking, isn't it.
** [[Straw Feminist
** [[Conspiracy
*** And some far more than you're comfortable with.
** Avatar-bashers, even now, well over a year after the film's release. For the want of good things said about the film on the internet by anyone anywhere (or even new jokes made about the same few perceived flaws by the haters), it is extremely difficult to consider the film's good reputation anything but mythical. Will it never end?! -Zuul MF

* Wacky Homeroom
** [[Mahou Sensei Negima|Class 2-A/3-A.
** Ms. Frizzle's class

** Ms. Jewl's class.
* Waif Fu
** River's magnificent fights in Firefly's Grand Finale.
*** Seconded.
* [["Wake
** Orion Tsang. So you bulldoze through Stage 1, then comes this boss. And unlike the game up to this point, he does not fuck around.
** The Vanguard. Imagine this if you will, you buy demon's souls, hearing how Nintendo Hard it was, wanting to see if the reviews and so on were true. you boot up the system, and start a new game. At first your playing the Tutorial and your thinking "Wow, the people that played this game had to be jooking this is EASY." And then, you walk through another wall of fog, expecting nothing to big and then, you see him, five times your size, with a huge cleaver to match. your attacks do little to nothing, and then he takes one swing at you, and that's it. The Vanguard is infamous to anyone who played demon's souls as the one that made one thing painfully clear, Demon's Souls does not fuck around.
* Wake Up, Go to School, Save the World
** Kim Possible
** X-Men: Evolution
** Danny Phantom
** Persona 3. I mean, come on, you can't top waking up, going to school and then going back to your school during The Hidden Hour to save the world. (After your school turns into the Evil Tower of Ominousness too.)
* Wall of Text
** You haven't seen walls of text until you've read the (Ultimate) Warrior's comic book. Seriously...every page of that damn thing is like that. I think this, more than anything, is what qualifies the man as beyond batshit insane.
** Sonichu. And when I say "Most Triumphant", I don't mean it as a good thing.
** No comic can match the Most (or rather, Least) Triumphant film example, the opening crawl of Alone in the Dark. Has anybody tried timing that thing? -Zuul MF
* Walking Techbane
Line 207:
* The Walrus Was Paul
** Neon Genesis Evangelion
** Eraserhead
** James Joyce.
** "Stone of Love", by Blue Oyster Cult -Ziggy Zag
** The Big Lebowski
** "The White Album" by The Beatles. Bonus points for including the Trope Namer.
* Wangst
** [[Clerks|I'm stuck in this pit, earning less than slave wages, working on my day off, dealing with every backward fuck on the planet, the goddamn steel shutters are locked all day, I smell like shoe polish,
** Again, Sonichu. The author doesn't even bother with an attempt at subtlety.
** Simple Plan. Look no further than Welcome To My Life
*** [[
** [[Twilight (novel)|Twilight...just Twilight.
*** Make that a more specific Twilight: New Moon and you've got yourself a "seconded". -Ziggy Zag
**** And thirded. Dear God, the wangst...
Line 225:
* Warrior Poet
** Cyrano De Bergerac
* Wave Motion Gun
** The Arc-en-Ciel from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. What other Wave Motion Gun destroys its target by distorting the very fabric of space and time around it?
*** The rainbow? Just with a name like that, it has to be badass.
*** Heck, Nanoha is the cutest little Wave Motion Gun ever, and if you don't agree, she'll just befriend you.
** Krenim Temporal Weapon from Star Trek: Voyager. Absolutely nothing beats the gun that erase things from history and also rewrite history to fit the erasure.
** The Ark in Transformers Cybertron. Huge enough to be wielded by a Physical God Transformer the size of a planet. Fired to destroy a freak blackhole caused by the death throes of said Physical God's evil brother.
** MOON STONE CANNON, FIRE!!!
** Enuma Elish, except that it's a Wave Motion Drill that splits the Heavens.
** [[
** Death Star superlaser.
** [[Touhou|Love Sign [Master Spark]
** The Eclipse Cannon. Built and used for noble intentions.
** The Positron Rifle. It takes all of Japan's energy for it to shoot twice. The angel it was used against counts, too, but since they destroyed it with the Rifle...
** The R-Type universe. This is a place where even the smallest fighters are fielded with a Wave Motion Gun, the guns scale up to and including a Wave Motion Gun designed to depopulate planets (that fit onto a battleship the size of a few city blocks) and a Kill Sat with a Wave Motion Gun that can wipe out whole fleets.
** Thor's Hammer/The Mana Cannon from Tales of Symphonia and Tales of Phantasia. A Wave Motion Gun so big that if you power it with the world's mana - which is what it was designed for - it kills the World Tree producing that mana. The only time we know of that it was ever safely fired was at a lower capacity, and powered by the Summon Spirits instead of drawing from the local mana pool directly.
** Graviton Beam Emitter looks like a tiny handgun, except that it fire a beam 70 KM LONG laser that can blow holes in metal structures that shrugs off big honking nukes like dirt.
* We Need a Distraction
** Stalag 17. There could be a Massive Multiplayer Crossover where Jayne and Solid Snake strip naked while singing "[[
** Grand Illusion: A Crowning Moment of Awesome
** "What am I supposed to do, dress in drag and do the hula?"

** [[Warhammer
** Skaven, just Skaven.
* We Were Rehearsing a Play
Line 256:
** Homestuck. After 413 days of its run, it was still the same day in-comic.
*** IT'S BEEN IMPLIED TO EVEN BE ONLY A FEW HOURS. AND THE TROLLS ARE ON THEIR SAME DAY TOO. So very seconded.
*** As of December
*** As much as I wanted to give this to long-running contender Megatokyo... yeah, you can't beat Homestuck in this, it is simply the best there is.
** Lost; seasons 1-4 take place over 100 days and 5 and 6 a couple of weeks.
* "Well Done, Son" Guy
Line 264:
** Lex F__ing Luthor
** Sasuke Uchiha, at least before the massacre
** Uh, ZUKO!? And possibly Azula?
*** Seconded.
* Well-Intentioned Extremist
** Redcloak - benj; NamonakiRei
** Veidt -getmemygun, User:Man Without A Body (who sort-of agrees with the actions of the character in question. And probably with Alan Moore.), User:Voodoo Child.

** Doctor Steel.
** Mithos Yggdrasill.
** The Operative.
* Wham! Episode
** Severed Dreams

** Fullmetal Alchemist Chapter 104, holy fucking SHIT! - Dales Kaine
*** Seconded.
*** SO thirded. In fact, anything from chapter 95
*** Fourthed! And the most amazing part about it was the fact that the author could keep upping the ante.
** Fullmetal Alchemist Episode 50. DAMN.
** One Piece chapter 574. Its name? The Death of Portgas D. Ace.
*** Chapter 513, the separation of the Straw Hats. Never, ever did I see that one coming.
** Mass Effect. Virmire. "There is a realm of existence so far beyond your own you cannot even imagine it. I am beyond your comprehension. I am Sovereign!"
*** Have fun on the rest of that same level.
** "Lay Down Your Burdens II". One year later.
** The Red Wedding.
** Crossroads of Destiny Not so much the Wham, but precisely how much it enraged viewers.
*** No, that wham was definitely the most effective wham (in animation, at least) on its own.
** I Was Made To Love You.
** [[Harry Potter|The Half Blood Prince
** Code Geass for Ep19 and nearly every episode in R2 18-25.

** Homestuck: Pretty much everything from [S] Wake on.
** Neon Genesis Evangelion, episode 18 (and every subsequent episode)
** Puella Magi Madoka Magica, episode 10. Never have I seen something that so completely changes everything we've seen before in a series by recontextualizing it so radically.
*** Episode 10? Try Episode 3! Madre de Dios!
** iCarly: iOMG. It lived up to the name.

* What an Idiot!
** Nick Arcade. No, really.
* What Do You Mean It's for Kids?
** The Poison Ivy/pod babies episode of Batman: The Animated Series. SERIOUS [[Nightmare Fuel|nightmare fuel, yo!
** What do you mean adults can't enjoy Pokémon?
*** Different perspective: Go look at the Fridge Horror and Nightmare Fuel pages for Pokémon.
** When will the internet understand that Watership Down is entirely suitable for children? I was raised on those vicious rabbits, and I'm fine.
** Doctor Who.
** Harry Potter, if only because the debate rages on
*** There is quite a fair bit of Nightmare Fuel and some disturbing themes in that series.
** Don Bluth. [[Nightmare Fuel/Don Bluth|full stop.
** Rocko's Modern Life
** Folks, it may have great writing and characterization, and it recognizes the older members of its audience, but even until the very end, Avatar: The Last Airbender was targeted at children. Not that this is a bad thing, of course.
** Fist of the North Star. Don't mind all those intestines flying everywhere, this show is for the kids!
** Regular Show. Just, Regular Show.
** Animaniacs
** Animorphs. Genocide, child warfare, mind enslaving parasites, so, so much body horror, cannibalism, fates worse than death and unyielding fear and isolation imposed on five kids who accidentally found out about a secret war against humanity. All of this is just in the first book. ** Pan's Labyrinth.
*** Seconds Pan's Labyrinth.
** Neon Genesis Evangelion
** "Sorry Kids, I couldn't get tickets for Kung Fu Panda, so let's go watch the Clown open fire on a school bus, hm?"
*** Batman: Arkham Asylum freaked me out more than Dead Space, Fallout 3, and the more disturbing parts of Oblivion put together.
** [[Akira
*** And many animé to follow.
** Jurassic Park. MOMMY, MAKE THE T-REX GO AWAY!!
** Watchmen. Full stop.
** Pan's Labyrinth
*** Hence why the picture on that page is a Photoshopped poster from that very movie.

** All of the "adult" animation that The Simpsons helped popularize.

** NEON. GENESIS. EVANGELION.
* What Do You Mean It Wasn't Made on Drugs?
** Bit.Trip. -Zenith
** Oddly enough, Alice in Wonderland. Lewis Carroll was nuts and a bit of a pedo, but he wasn't on drugs.
*** Tim Burton's take on it. Let me clarify: I've seen Eraserhead, The Wall, End of Evangelion and We Are the Strange with general ideas of what was going on and I was completely fracking confused by his freakishly-weird meth-trip take on it.
** Once again, Neon Genesis Evangelion.
** Moulin Rouge

This is simply what you think is the (not some of the, the) best example of any trope (an objective trope, not subjective, since this already is subjective). The "Crowning Example" if you will.
There could be several reasons you think an example is the best.
- You thinks it's the best in terms of illustrating the trope.
- You think it's the most well done.
- It's your favorite play in that trope.
- You just really like the source material.
Oh, and each troper gets one example per trope, no more. Also, don't go "no, this is," or phrases like that. This is about our own personal favorites.
Please list tropes alphabetically.
V
- Vaporware
- Duke Nukem Forever, period.
- Not anymore :)
- Starcraft: Ghost
- Chrono Break
- Half Life Episode 3
- Duke Nukem Forever, period.
- Verbal Tic
- Naruto. Dear God, Naruto.
- Believe it, dattebayo!
- Mei Ijuin na no da !
- Suiseiseki's desu must not fail this one! desu Kulsprutejojjo
- Remember Choi Bounge de yansu!
- Nipaah Nano desu
- Narf! Poit! Zort! Troz!
- I'll tell you what, dang ol' Boomhauer, man!
- Kanon. Don't believe me? Watch the video.
- Ah, but what of the Doctor, dear boy? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm? --
- Prepare to be invaded de geso!!
- The Mr. Saturns' Zoom! Boing! Ding!
- Naruto. Dear God, Naruto.
- Video Game Caring Potential
- Zoo Tycoon. If you like animals.
- Video Game Cruelty Potential
- MadWorld. Sure, other games may have more potential, but in MadWorld it's a REQUIREMENT
- Shadow of Rome is a VERY close second for the same reason.
- The upcoming game Bullet Storm seems like it may be this,
- Prototype is this trope, to the point that (almost) all else seems like a cute puppy simulator. Just try to avoid collateral damage for one mission, I dare you.
- Dwarf Fortress, for science!
- Viewers Are Geniuses
- Primer. That is all.
- Complete World Knowledge
- Dennis Miller's "rants" on his HBO talk show. Didn't quite work out as well for him when he was in the Monday Night Football announcer's booth, though.
- The Silent Partner, which didn't do well in theaters because it turned out the viewers weren't.
- H.P. Lovecraft. -Ziggy Zag
- Irregular Webcomic. Including the occasional explanations.
- Neon Genesis Evangelion
- The Wire
- Ghost in the Shell (especially the series)
- As much as this editor considered agreeing with Stand-Alone Complex, in the end he must reluctantly give the championship belt to Soldier of the Mist by Gene Wolfe. --
- Dresden Codak
- Any movie by Mamoru Oshii.
- Vile Villain Saccharine Show
- Villain Decay
- The Rabbids from Rayman Raving Rabbids used to be more intimidating in previews. Now they're total incompetent jokes. They're much more hilarious that way.
- Hannibal, why?
- Irina Derevko.
- Bowser. But in this case, Tropes Are Not Bad
- Team Rocket
- Freiza from Dragonball Z. He had the longest fight in the entire series with Goku. He comes back to life in the 12th movie and is killed by Gohan in one hit. How can it POSSIBLY BE WORSE THAN THAT?
- Raijuta Isurugi of Rurouni Kenshin
- Villainous Breakdown
- Azula.
- Seconded.
- Thirded.
- Obviously
- Fiftith
- Sixth...ed!
- Seventh...ed!
- Eighthed.
- Nineth...ed
- Tenthed.
- Eleventhed.
- Twelfth...ed
- The Scorpio Killer.
- Apollo Justice's Kristoph Gavin. For an idea of this, he gets so mad that as he raises his fist to bang on the witness stand in frustration, the dishes that had previously fallen on the ground behind him rise up into the air and fall down as he slams his fist on the witness stand. Please note: this man has no magic powers.
- Same game series, different perp: Damon Gant. How many villains do you know that have a breakdown speech where they stand there laughing and clapping maniacally for an entire minute?
- Same series (notice a trend?), different villain: Manfred von Karma. After he spends hours grinning smugly at you, the guy snaps like a twig on slow-motion and bangs his head against the wall after screaming at the top of his lungs.
- Really, pretty much any villain in this series. Redd White with his strange headdesking thing, Dahlia Hawthorne in 3-1 AND 3-5. The Tiger's seizure-inducing breakdown, and Daryan Cresend and his hair. Going everywhere.
- Gotta give it to Matt Engarde clawing his face out, although all of the breakdowns in the series are great. Considering it's kind of a once an episode type thing, the whole SERIES deserves to be the Most Triumphant Example, although this troper is tempted by Light Yagami and Marlo Stanfield.
- Red Dragon
- Light Yagami
- Marlo Stanfield: MY NAME IS MY NAME!
- Dukat in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine to the point of getting plastic surgery to make him look like a Bajoran and seducing the head of the Bajoran religion. One might say his breakdown turned him into a Magnificent Bastard. EvaLilith
- Soujirou Seta. His sudden change from Dissonant Serenity to this is damn scary, and simply masterful
- Seconded.
- World, a Reality Warper who controls all aspects of the world inside his toybox. When he gets angry, the world literally begins to implode upon itself.
- The Joker, if only because the DCAU saved it's very best Villainous Breakdown for last
- Adolf Hitler in Downfall
- Cesare Borgia in Assassin's Creed Brotherhood
- Azula.
- Villainous Crossdresser
- Dr. FrankN Furter
- Norman Bates
- The Silence of the Lambs has Buffalo Bill, who dresses not only in women's clothes, but their skins.
- Villain Override
- Villain Protagonist
- Lord Laharl
- Seconded for being the most hilariously awesome villain protagonist ever.
- Light Yagami.
- Full stop.
- Tropers/Carla: THIS.
- I guess it's official now.
- Salieri
- Patrick Bateman -getmemygun
- Invader Zim
- The Abominable Dr. Phibes, particularly in the sequel
- Caim in Drakenguard, along with his whole party, barring Seere. An axe-crazy incestrous murderer, a dragon who thinks the only wise people are those who choose not to even be born, a madwoman who eats babies, and a pedophile preist. And that's your party. Plus a kid who never ages.
- Kratos. Non-stop. The games never try to hide from you the fact that the guy is a Complete Monster, and after the events of the first game you can pretty much cross off the Hero in Anti-Hero in regards to him.
- Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. EvaLilith
- The Nazis from Das Boot. -Ziggy Zag
- Disagree. Aside from one guy, they mostly seemed politically apathetic sailors just doing their jobs, making them Punch Clock Villains at best.
- Punch Clock Villains are still villains, aren't they? Hence the name. It's the most triumphant example because no other story I know of can so consistently make you root for them and feel for them before slapping yourself once more and reminding yourself of who they are. That ending alone seals the deal. -Ziggy Zag
- Richard III.
- Tony Montana from Scarface.
- Alex from A Clockwork Orange.
- Seconded
- The Light Warriors
- Michio Yuki.
- Lord Laharl
- Villain Song
- 'Hellfire' by Judge Claude Frollo.
- Even the Nostalgia Critic thinks so!
- Keith David's "Friends on the Other Side" in The Princess and the Frog
- Toxic Love by Hexxus
- Scar's "Be Prepared". Jeremy Irons, Nazi imagery, and mountains of bones.
- Seconded.
- Thirded.
- Fourthed.
- Rotti Largo gets a lot of songs, Magnificent Bastard that he is, but the prize has to go to "I'll keep those vultures guessing!" and "Things You See in a Graveyard".
- "In the Dark of the Night" by Rasputin
- "The Acid Queen" from Tommy, by The Who. Or maybe "Career of Evil" by Blue Oyster Cult if that counts. -Ziggy Zag
- What? No mention of Ursula? You poor unfortunate souls! -Max1099
- Doctor Steel. Many, since he's a musical supervillain. But "Dr. Steel" is probably the crowner. "I have become the man with a plan / With an army of toys and a mechanical band / Ruling the world making everything real / I’m Dr. Steel, Dr. Steel!"
- The Queen of the Night's aria "Der Hoelle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen," from Mozart's The Magic Flute.
- The Hounds.
- "There is a hell that has been building from the moment we first met." indeed. So very seconded.
- "Prince Ali (Reprise)", by Jafar
- "Whoa-oh! (Whoa-oh)! Whoa-oh! (Whoa-oh)! WHOA-oh! (WHOA-oh!) I'M THE OOGIE BOOGIE MAN!"
- 'Hellfire' by Judge Claude Frollo.
- Villain Sue
- More like Villain Shu, am I right?
- Captain Broken himself, Sousuke Aizen.
- So much that him losing at all will be terribly OOC.
- Lord Starkiller basically kills off a bunch of major characters and warps the continuity in Ultimate Sith Edition. Good thing he's not canon (outside of a Bonus Boss cameo).
- Hao Asakura.
- Villain Sue.
- Bomb Queen
- Terumi Yuuki. Yes, he may look like a magnificent Troll in plain eyes, but dig in deep and you'll see he pretty much out-sues all entries above.
- Villain with Good Publicity
- Griffith
- Mr. Fletcher
- The Mayor
- Gaston
- Pick a Real Life politician. Any one of them, it doesn't matter. What?! Don't look at me like that! -Ziggy Zag
- Doctor Steel.
- Desus
- Violently Protective Girlfriend
- Yuno
- "Don't worry Yuki, I'll be sure to kill her."
- Ryougi Shiki
- Yuno
- Viral Marketing
- The Joker Blogs, an amateur-produced YouTube television series, has established "Mr. J" as the sole rightful heir to Heath Ledger among diehard Batman fans, nevermind random viewers...and all of it right under Hollywood's nose.
- The Blair Witch Project. Too bad the movie sucked.
- Vitriolic Best Buds
- Viva Las Vegas
- Vocal Minority
- Americans. Most of them are not loud, boorish, fat, lazy, uncultured, stupid, etc. Shocking, isn't it.
- Straw Feminists. So vocal and so triumphant that even many tropers on TV Tropes seem to believe that feminism is synonymous with misandry.
- Conspiracy Theorists in general. You'll be surprised to find out that most conspiracy theories actually have less adherents that it seems.
- And some far more than you're comfortable with.
- Avatar-bashers, even now, well over a year after the film's release. For the want of good things said about the film on the internet by anyone anywhere (or even new jokes made about the same few perceived flaws by the haters), it is extremely difficult to consider the film's good reputation anything but mythical. Will it never end?! -Zuul MF
W
- Wacky Homeroom
- Waif Fu
- River's magnificent fights in Firefly's Grand Finale.
- Seconded.
- River's magnificent fights in Firefly's Grand Finale.
- "Wake-Up Call" Boss
- Orion Tsang. So you bulldoze through Stage 1, then comes this boss. And unlike the game up to this point, he does not fuck around.
- The Vanguard.
- Wake Up, Go to School, Save the World
- Kim Possible
- X-Men: Evolution
- Danny Phantom
- Persona 3. I mean, come on, you can't top waking up, going to school and then going back to your school during The Hidden Hour to save the world. (After your school turns into the Evil Tower of Ominousness too.)
- Wall of Text
- You haven't seen walls of text until you've read the (Ultimate) Warrior's comic book. Seriously...every page of that damn thing is like that. I think this, more than anything, is what qualifies the man as beyond batshit insane.
- Sonichu. And when I say "Most Triumphant", I don't mean it as a good thing.
- No comic can match the Most (or rather, Least) Triumphant film example, the opening crawl of Alone in the Dark. Has anybody tried timing that thing? -Zuul MF
- Walking Techbane
- Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden. Take a moment to think about all the things he makes reference to (the Evil Overlord List, countless movies, shout outs to everything you can think of). And yet this guy can't use any technology from after World War II. You've never seen someone so determined to be a Pop-Cultured Badass.
- The Walrus Was Paul
- Neon Genesis Evangelion
- Eraserhead
- James Joyce.
- "Stone of Love", by Blue Oyster Cult -Ziggy Zag
- The Big Lebowski
- "The White Album" by The Beatles. Bonus points for including the Trope Namer.
- Wangst
- I'm stuck in this pit, earning less than slave wages, working on my day off, dealing with every backward fuck on the planet, the goddamn steel shutters are locked all day, I smell like shoe polish,I've got an ex-girlfriend who's catatonic after fucking a dead guy, and my present girlfriend has sucked thirty-six dicks...My life is in the shitter right about now, so if you don't mind I'd like to stew a bit." You may say that there's no good example of wangst, but this is the best one purely because, unlike most others, it's fully intentional. Smith doesn't honestly intend for you to think that moping to the extent he does is reasonable, especially when a good deal of his suffering is self-inflicted. Randal calls Dante on it, Katlin comes back specifically because she expects him to be a wreck, and Veronica breaks up with him over it. The absolute only way to justify, let alone play, this trope.
- Again, Sonichu. The author doesn't even bother with an attempt at subtlety.
- Simple Plan. Look no further than Welcome To My Life
- HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN TO MEEEEEEEEEEEE! User:King Clark
- Twilight...just Twilight.
- Make that a more specific Twilight: New Moon and you've got yourself a "seconded". -Ziggy Zag
- And thirded. Dear God, the wangst...
- Bella, this is the skin of a killer! *Sparkle* (Pssst. that's fourthed.)
- And thirded. Dear God, the wangst...
- Make that a more specific Twilight: New Moon and you've got yourself a "seconded". -Ziggy Zag
- Most of the Justice League in JLA: Act of God
- Zero. WHAT AM I FIGHTING FOOOOOOOOR!! anyone?
- Warrior Poet
- Wave Motion Gun
- The Arc-en-Ciel from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. What other Wave Motion Gun destroys its target by distorting the very fabric of space and time around it?
- The rainbow? Just with a name like that, it has to be badass.
- Heck, Nanoha is the cutest little Wave Motion Gun ever, and if you don't agree, she'll just befriend you.
- Krenim Temporal Weapon from Star Trek: Voyager. Absolutely nothing beats the gun that erase things from history and also rewrite history to fit the erasure.
- The Ark in Transformers Cybertron. Huge enough to be wielded by a Physical God Transformer the size of a planet. Fired to destroy a freak blackhole caused by the death throes of said Physical God's evil brother.
- MOON STONE CANNON, FIRE!!!
- Enuma Elish, except that it's a Wave Motion Drill that splits the Heavens.
- Battlecruiser operational.
- Death Star superlaser.
- Love Sign [Master Spark]
- The Eclipse Cannon. Built and used for noble intentions.
- The Positron Rifle. It takes all of Japan's energy for it to shoot twice. The angel it was used against counts, too, but since they destroyed it with the Rifle...
- The R-Type universe.
- Thor's Hammer/The Mana Cannon from Tales of Symphonia and Tales of Phantasia. A Wave Motion Gun so big that if you power it with the world's mana - which is what it was designed for - it kills the World Tree producing that mana. The only time we know of that it was ever safely fired was at a lower capacity, and powered by the Summon Spirits instead of drawing from the local mana pool directly.
- Graviton Beam Emitter looks like a tiny handgun, except that it fire a beam 70 KM LONG laser that can blow holes in metal structures that shrugs off big honking nukes like dirt.
- The Arc-en-Ciel from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. What other Wave Motion Gun destroys its target by distorting the very fabric of space and time around it?
- We Need a Distraction
- Stalag 17. There could be a Massive Multiplayer Crossover where Jayne and Solid Snake strip naked while singing "My Eyes/On The Rise" to give Garrett and Catwoman a chance to steal the Infinity Gauntlet from Tzeentch while the Genie provides special effects and it still wouldn't top that wicked sweet moment when... Sorry, not spoiling it. Watch the movie, you'll see.
- Grand Illusion: A Crowning Moment of Awesome
- "What am I supposed to do, dress in drag and do the hula?"
- LUAU!!
- "LOOK AT ME, I'M A TARGET!" Yes, The Doctor uses HIMSELF as a distraction.
- We Have Reserves
- Commander Kubrik Chenkov, whose favored tactic is to mire the enemy in melee combat with his troops... and then call in an artillery strike on them. His special rule, "Send In the Next Wave!", literally allows him to call in unlimited conscripts. After the last batch has been utterly obliterated of course.
- Skaven, just Skaven.
- We Were Rehearsing a Play
- Put That Thing Back Where It Came From Or So Help Me, the reason being that it actually got written and produced.
- Webcomic Time
- Homestuck. After 413 days of its run, it was still the same day in-comic.
- IT'S BEEN IMPLIED TO EVEN BE ONLY A FEW HOURS. AND THE TROLLS ARE ON THEIR SAME DAY TOO. So very seconded.
- As of December 25, 2010, it is still April 13, 2009 in-comic.
- As much as I wanted to give this to long-running contender Megatokyo... yeah, you can't beat Homestuck in this, it is simply the best there is.
- Lost; seasons 1-4 take place over 100 days and 5 and 6 a couple of weeks.

- Seconded.
- SO thirded. In fact, anything from chapter 95 on—the HSQ has gone through the roof by now.
- Fourthed! And the most amazing part about it was the fact that the author could keep upping the ante.
- Fullmetal Alchemist Episode 50. DAMN.
- One Piece chapter 574. Its name? The Death of Portgas D. Ace.
- Chapter 513, the separation of the Straw Hats. Never, ever did I see that one coming.
- Mass Effect. Virmire. "There is a realm of existence so far beyond your own you cannot even imagine it. I am beyond your comprehension. I am Sovereign!"
- Have fun on the rest of that same level.
- "Lay Down Your Burdens II". One year later.
- The Red Wedding.
- Crossroads of Destiny Not so much the Wham, but precisely how much it enraged viewers.
- No, that wham was definitely the most effective wham (in animation, at least) on its own.
- I Was Made To Love You.
- The Half Blood Prince
- Code Geass for Ep19 and nearly every episode in R2 18-25.

- Neon Genesis Evangelion, episode 18 (and every subsequent episode)

- Episode 10? Try Episode 3! Madre de Dios!
- iCarly: iOMG. It lived up to the name.
- Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS Episode 17: Unstoppable Rage has never before been used in such an emotionally grueling manner. The Incredible Hulk seems tame compared to this.

CG: YOU MADE AN UNBEATABLE BOSS IS WHAT YOU DID. |
Narrator, describing a certain character's actions: The most important character in Homestuck fondly regards the miracle of a new beginning. |

- The Poison Ivy/pod babies episode of Batman: The Animated Series. SERIOUS nightmare fuel, yo!
- What do you mean adults can't enjoy Pokémon?
- Different perspective: Go look at the Fridge Horror and Nightmare Fuel pages for Pokémon.
- When will the internet understand that Watership Down is entirely suitable for children? I was raised on those vicious rabbits, and I'm fine.
- Doctor Who.
- Harry Potter, if only because the debate rages on
- There is quite a fair bit of Nightmare Fuel and some disturbing themes in that series.
- Don Bluth. full stop.
- Rocko's Modern Life
- Folks, it may have great writing and characterization, and it recognizes the older members of its audience, but even until the very end, Avatar: The Last Airbender was targeted at children. Not that this is a bad thing, of course.
- Fist of the North Star. Don't mind all those intestines flying everywhere, this show is for the kids!
- Regular Show. Just, Regular Show.
- Animaniacs
- Animorphs. Genocide, child warfare, mind enslaving parasites, so, so much body horror, cannibalism, fates worse than death and unyielding fear and isolation imposed on five kids who accidentally found out about a secret war against humanity. All of this is just in the first book. And It. Got. Worse.
- Invader Zim
- Skulduggery Pleasant. Just look at the Nightmare Fuel page. It has 9+ on the back of the books.
- What Do You Mean It's Not for Kids?
- Pan's Labyrinth.
- Seconds Pan's Labyrinth.
- Neon Genesis Evangelion
- "Sorry Kids, I couldn't get tickets for Kung Fu Panda, so let's go watch the Clown open fire on a school bus, hm?"
- Batman: Arkham Asylum freaked me out more than Dead Space, Fallout 3, and the more disturbing parts of Oblivion put together.
- Akira
- And many animé to follow.
- Jurassic Park. MOMMY, MAKE THE T-REX GO AWAY!!
- Watchmen. Full stop.
- Pan's Labyrinth
- Hence why the picture on that page is a Photoshopped poster from that very movie.
- Conker's Bad Fur Day. 'Cause nothing says "family friendly" like lots of swearing, innuendos, alcohol usage, and a giant, opera-singing poo monster.
- All of the "adult" animation that The Simpsons helped popularize.
- Higurashi no Naku Koro ni aka the home of Cleaver Girl aka the series that got a 7+ rating in France.
- Pan's Labyrinth.
- What Do You Mean Its Not Symbolic
- Jesus Christ Yoshira Kiryu

- NEON. GENESIS. EVANGELION.
- What Do You Mean It Wasn't Made on Drugs?
- Bit.Trip. -Zenith
- Oddly enough, Alice in Wonderland. Lewis Carroll was nuts and a bit of a pedo, but he wasn't on drugs.
- Tim Burton's take on it. Let me clarify: I've seen Eraserhead, The Wall, End of Evangelion and We Are the Strange with general ideas of what was going on and I was completely fracking confused by his freakishly-weird meth-trip take on it.
- Once again, Neon Genesis Evangelion.
- Moulin Rouge
- Bobobo-Bo Bo-bobo.
- Cat Soup
- FLCL. Especially episode 4. Just....What the hell?

- Again, Bobobo-Bo Bo-bobo.
- Panty and Stocking With Garterbelt. It speaks for itself.
- Seconded; this beats everything else. - PLZSIC
- Thirded; Are we allowed to change our votes when something more batshit insane comes up?
- Fourthed, and I believe you can, so long as you delete your previous vote.
- Fifthed. And it's interesting how this bizarre mess is a Weird Japanese Thing in disguise as a Weird American Thing. It manages to exponentially sum up all the weirdness of both universes, so much that the only reason Season 2 was not yet made is because the sheer accumulated density of its weirdness would create a black hole on Earth and cause The End of the World as We Know It.
- Dead Leaves. Made by the same lunatic director as Panty and Stocking.
- Gintama. It goes far beyond insanity.
- Wife Husbandry
- Twilight: Jacob realizes Renesmee is his soulmate mere minutes after she is born. He will be like her uncle and protector until she is seven but physically seventeen at which point they will commence the baby making. -Limelightqueen

- Marco del Rossi on Degrassi the Next Generation. He went from having a "sporty" look and being into sports (although perhaps just to see Sean shirtless and lick his lips) to not knowing who the Washington Redskins were.
- Kyle Broflovski. Dear God. If canon Kyle ever came face to face with slash fic Kyle, his reaction would be priceless.
- Winter Royal Lady
- Wise Prince
- Ashitaka of Princess Mononoke
- The Woman Wearing the Queenly Mask : Ambassador Delenn of Babylon 5 ; she is politically powerful enough to be this and combines a well-kept propriety with an ability to command.
- Wishplosion
- Puella Magi Madoka Magica, where the trope is used to underline the quintessence of being a Magical Girl. --
- Women Drivers
- Milka Duno. It's hard to adequately explain the scope of it without looking her performances up directly, one at a time.

- The Abominable Dr. Phibes
- Fou-lu. So many, many, many, many, many, many ways, especially if you throw in the portrayal in the Comic Book Adaptation of Breath of Fire IV. His entire storyline is pretty much "How To Turn A Literal God-Emperor Into A Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds".
- No mention of The Doctor?
- Richter.

- Demona "The access code is...Alone."
- Oersted
- The Penguin

- Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Cobra Commander. I don't even know G.I. Joe that well and it still boggles the mind!
- Heath Ledger as The Joker. It was the oddest choice, almost nobody (including myself) believed in it, and it turned out to be one of the best instances of a "so crazy it just might work" idea actually working in the history of filmmaking.
- The entire cast of Repo! The Genetic Opera. Sarah Brightman alongside Bill Mosesley alongside Alexa Vega alongside Nivek Ogre alongside Anthony Stewart Head alongside Paris Hilton alongside Paul Sorvino... and putting it all together, Yoshiki Hayashi.

- It's all according to the scenario.
- Saw
- I hereby propose Xanatos Roulette be renamed to "Teridax Gambit." After about 80,000 years, eight real life years, more subplots both successfully worked and foiled, and almost cuasing the end of the world as we know it (which is what REALLY pushes it into Roulette territory rather than a rather lengthy Xanatos Speed Chess-if Matoro had hesistated for a split second, the Matoran universe would have been killed off for real-an entire parallel universe shows what would have happened had one of the Plan's crucial steps failed.) Top that, Xanatos.
